Laptop Power Pack

Laptop computers receive power through the AC/DC adapter and the battery pack. The AC/DC cable occasionally can get damaged through regular wear and tear. It is important to repair the DC jack that the adapter plugs into as soon as possible, because most computers can only last on battery power for a few hours. It will take an hour or two to disassemble the computer and repair the power jack.

Taking Computer Apart

Position the computer so it is upside down on a flat surface. Take out all the screws from the bottom of the laptop with a screwdriver. Slide the cover off and store the screws in a drawer for safekeeping.

Take out any screws securing the hard drive housing with the appropriate type screwdriver. Once the housing is free, slide it away from the computer. Remove any screws holding the hard drive and pull it out.
